The elections to the three municipalities of Delhi could not have gone kookier. First, let’s do away with the also-rans. Congress party didn’t know whether to shed Shiela Dikshit’s legacy or leverage it. That ensured that they came across as confused and largely insignificant. Dilliwalahs are sick of AAP’s blame-games and their distorted posturing of being a victim overshadows everything else. So they scuttled their own chances.
Now, here’s the real comic piece. The ruling BJP (they have been ruling the municipalities for two terms) replaced their sitting counsellors with new candidates. A clear reflection of the kind of work the sitting counsellors would have put in during the last two terms. Delhi, therefore, lost a decade to mismanagement or incompetency. The BJP then went ahead to seek votes on a plank of building Delhi of Modi’s Vision. Now, to be fair to this gentleman, Modi – he won’t be able to distinguish between the Najafgarh drain and Yamuna or a Mandavili from Munirka – and yet votes were sought on his name?!
Poor Dilliwalahs did not have much to choose and went ahead praying that Mr Modi, when the push comes to a shove, will put Mr Trump’s telephone call on hold and address the issues of Delhi’s choked drainage. They voted on the belief that he will do away with his international travel to get garbage that stays piled up on the streets of Delhi removed. Dilliwalahs sure have a sense of humour!
There were other laugh riots around the city too.
The Delhi Metro commuters at Rajiv Chowk were treated to about ten minutes of porn clips on the LED TV at peak hour. The honourable Dilliwalahs claimed that they didn’t notice anything as they were busy queuing up for the next metro train. Respect, man!

Then there is this road-renaming-diarrhoea that New Delhi Municipal Corporation seems to be suffering from. This time the NDMC has renamed Teen Murti Chowk to Haifa Chowk and Teen Murti Marg to Teen Murti Haifa Marg. Haifa is in Israel and that PM Modi is visiting Israel made the NDMC discover Haifa. Earlier this month the visit of Sheikh Hasina made NDMC realize they don’t have a street in the name of her father, Sheikh Mujibar Rahman. Now Park Street has been named after him. NDMC seems hell bent on giving Google Maps a run for its money. Go figure!

AAP now seems at set to disappear. AK needs to reinvent the party and himself. Meanwhile Delhi continues to suffer.

Hahahahaha! We are mad people living in a mad city. Still haven’t gotten over the fact that a corrupt non-performing incumbent body could come back.

Not having any credible opposition, BJP romped home with victory once again, though all of us delhites have seen the garbage piling up, roads caving in, traffic snarls, pollution , and of course the mandatory dengue outbreak 🙁

As usual nothing better to do than change the name of the roads. Teen murti will still be teen murti . Dilliwalloh ki kismet ya bud kismet ??BJP YA AAP.

Agree.. That Delhiwallahs don’t have choices but to follow BJP’s path. Let’s hope this time they perform better keeping 2019 General Election in mind. They need to win 2019 with more majority than 2014, it can be difficult if opposition unites and choose a single leader sheding their egos.
