Delhi Is Talking About

Mallika Sarabhai

Triveni Kala Sangam marked its 75th anniversary in New Delhi with a programme spread over a week with programmes curated in a manner that felt less like a formal celebrations and more like living conversations between art and audience especially the spellbinding performance by Mallika Sarabhai, who narrated three powerful stories. Each of the story layered with history, emotion and sharp social commentary—moving effortlessly between humour, anguish and hope. With nothing more than her voice, expression and presence, she held the audience in complete silence, and by the end of the third story, everyone rose almost instinctively for a heartfelt standing ovation. It was a fitting tribute not only to the legendary performer on stage but also to Triveni’s 75-year journey as a space where art does not merely perform, but speaks, questions and transforms which is what Mallika did.
