NDMC scored a road-renaming hat trick! Three name changes in eighteen months and yet you guys accuse our municipalities of inaction. A roof caved in here and a flyover developed cracks there , these are events of little consequence compared to teaching Dilliwalahs a lesson in History (of who was good for India and who wasn’t). On road name changes, well, Aurangzeb suffered the ignominy earlier and it was Dulhousie’s turn last fortnight. It is just a coincidence that the guy replacing Dulhousie on the street sign is Aurangzeb’s brother. Good reason for us to check on Aurangzeb’s siblings on Wikipedia. Not too long back Race Course Road became Lok Kalyan Marg. There seems to be a possibility that the idea of demonetization came to PM Modi from this inspiring new name of the road that houses his residence. Lok Kalyan is, after all, Public Welfare. Get it, you critics of demonetization out there!
Dilliwalahs have been keeping a close watch on the Punjab elections. The results there perhaps affect them like none other. If Mr Kejriwal’s AAP wins there then may be he’ll move out to Punjab (Hold! Please hold that gleeful smile…its too early yet). And if AAP loses in Punjab then our friend Kejriwal may mend his ways and focus on getting his government here to do something good for Delhi. Either way we’ll get benefited. Or so the super-optimist Dilliwalahs believe. Amen.
Theatre buffs (please, do not force a corollary from the para above) are doled out an awesome treat at NSD’s Bharat Rang Mahostav. For Dilliwalahs a trip to Mandi House is incomplete without indulging in those gol gappas (the paani they claim is a concoction stirred in mineral water, so chill) at Bengali Market. And while you take a stroll around there to digest the stuff you just gulped – you notice Babar Lane. Aahhh! That’s next perhaps, you think. Big Brother NDMC is watching!
