Delhi University is celebrating a century of its inception. The event calendar for the entire year of celebrations was kick-started by an event recently that was attended by the education minister. Surprisingly, he pleaded with the alumni of an ageing Delhi University to create a model for the country on how the alumni could contribute to the nation. But then he didn’t elaborate as to what will happen to these suggestions. There are not many instances of his bosses and his government listening to even experts, leave alone the ordinary citizens having passed out from DU. Here was a case of an ageing Delhi University and an overzealous minister.
